[southeast] FIOS rollout in Ashburn, VA?

We are buying a condo in Ashburn (near Belmont Greene) and on my way out of the neighborhood I saw a Verizon truck laying something in the ground. I'm hoping it's FIOS...I should have asked him. Has anyone heard about any upcoming FIOS rollouts in Ashburn, VA? I'm really hoping so, the apartment we are moving out of gets FIOS the same month we leave.

You're right, you should have stopped and asked him. Condos require condo board or developer permission to run the cable, so it doesn't matter what the rest of Ashburn has.

I know for certain that the area of Ashburn known as Brambleton had FiOS. It was already fiber optic before Verizon came, so there has just been a transition process and equipment upgrade from their original provider(s).

You are correct. For the area "near Belmont Greene" would that be Belmont Country Club? If so, don't hold your breath on getting FiOS. The community is in a long term exclusive agreement with Adelphia (to be Comcast in November).

They've already started placing in the components...I spoke to the team doing the install and they still think it'll take a few months before they'll be ready to turn it on. They put in the cabling and a junction-box thing (buried partially in my back yard). I live on the lake near the pavilion.

Not sure how long those "few months" is going to be..I'm not comlpaining, just stating my observation.
Verizon did all the ground work in my subdivision in late July/early Aug. The "ground work" included running the conduit, running the cable and even splitting up the cable to be able to feed individual connection (done in the junction box just outside my backyard). This splitting was done by a Verizon guy who had a TV to make sure that the individual feeds work: I know because I talked to him while he was working on it (at 7:00 am in the morning .

All this was back in early Aug...its late Oct now and I ma still waiting...

btw, I off Glouchester pky near the dead-end.
