I'm getting the same modem from Circuit City...it comes out to about $6 after rebates, so I don't have to pay monthly fees for the modem.

Since you're leasing, just take the modem to your local Charter office and tell them to exchange it for you...or if you don't have time, set up an appointment and tell them to bring you a new modem.
