Re: Ad-Aware SE (updates) I guess we owe the folks at Lavasoft some more time to get things right. They deserve it! Please remember again that the whole Ad-Aware site was recently redesigned. Yes, I too had problems to get the latest defs (but I finally got them). Yes, I got a probably FP on PortExplorer (see other thread). Yes, I see a little bit weird News Screen (see screenie). But, hey, let us all please give them the time to fix those issues. I'm sure they will in the coming days. |

 | reply to MagMan Enter your Lavasoft folder and delete the Def.ref, open Ad-Aware ignore the error and continue to update, it will say it SE1R124 19.09.2006,Date:19.09.2006 but after the update is complete it will be SE1R125 05.10.2006 Worked for me |

I think you are using the authenticity checker, which is a beta release.
Can't get to the Lavasoft forum right now, but there is an informative thread about it. Basically the authenticity checker is wrong. You can compare md5-sums for the def. file manually if you want to be certain.

I agree on dumping the authenticity checker. Its beta and doesn't appear to have been worked on since the roar died down over the falsely counted/compromised defs. -- Microsoft MVP, Windows - Security; Admin Council; Charter Member ASAP; Take a walk though the Security Garden, Where Everything is Coming up Roses" |
