CableToolPoorly Representing MYSELF.Premium join:2004-11-12 | reply to spewak What the hell intitles everyone to annual speed increases at no charge? Its like every now and then I give my kid fruit snacks, the other day he toddles up to me and says, demanding- "FRUIT SNACKS!" I said "Maybe later.." "F R U I T S N A A A A A A A A C K S!!!!!!" "No."
And I know everyone, including myself, is waiting for a speed increase. But to take the time to copy and upload a picture of your email from Comcast touting some other new helpful feature and to bitch because it isnt a SPEED INCREASE email is just ridiculous.
And then to explain your point by merely posting: quote: speed increases! Either download or upload.
Reminds me of my son. "FRUITSNACKS! Either in a bowl or in my hand!" And he is 2. -- CableFAQ.org

 | I want fruit snacks.
As for the original poster, if you can qualify for a business account you could see about setting your own speeds for service. Just be willing to PAY MORE for more speed instead of hoping for more freebies.
I really want fruit snacks now. Curse you cable tool! -- If it's worth saying, it is worth saying politely |

Maybe you can get them for free from other sources (I don't know), but I (actually my kids) like having access to the games, I like the Rhapsody service and I'll like the finance stuff as well.
Sure, I'd take the speed anyday, but the other things also have value for me. |

I think the original poster feels (as I do) that he would rather have Comcast spending money on system upgrades to offer higher speeds rather than new "channels" for their portal.
Quite frankly I would rather be given the choice of services.
A. 6M/384k plus free access to all the Comcast homepage offerings. (The Fan, "channels", Rhapsody, games, personal web space, etc.) like we have now.
OR
B. 10M/1M POP email accounts, nothing else (not even usenet). Plus optional extra charges for web mail access and all the web based content.
For the same price, what would you chose? |
|
GooberPremium join:2000-12-17 Naperville, IL kudos:4 | I'd take the 2nd choice (as I said). But, I still think the other things have value (at least to me). |
|
 | reply to b10010011 From my stance I would not even want the POP access, just the data line.
From a business stand point I'd go with A. Why? Portal content is a major issue for the average consumer. They want their video, music, entertainment, etc all in one neat packaged item.
Also the Finance channel isn't new. It was just revamped.
So see B10010011, this is why you don't run an ISP. You wouldn't make enough money to get millions of subscribers. Remember, niche markets are not very profitable. -- If it's worth saying, it is worth saying politely |

I think the original poster feels (as I do) that he would rather have Comcast spending money on system upgrades to offer higher speeds rather than new "channels" for their portal. I may be going out on a limb here as well, but Comcast is more then an ISP and building value in their product, be it video, hsi, phone, or whatever is a business strategy and if anyone here actually disputes that it is a good one it would really blow my mind. This guy wants higher speed, this guy has no HSI service and just wants channel so and so added, this guy could care less about video or HSI and just wants feature X and Y added to his phone.
I could see how people would say "F the extras that have nothing to do with speed! I JUST WANT MORE SPEED!!!" but I doubt there is a room of people sitting there and thier sole instructures are HOW TO IGNORE EVERY PRODUCT THEY OFFER AND STOP ADDING VALUE AND FOCUS ON ADDING AN EXTRA 2mb DOWNLOAD!"
Because between you and me... there is almost no financial investment to add and extra few meg. Hell, to add an extra 20...And adding value to existing products and services and allowing your customers to add more aspects of your service into their life, such as rhapsody, financial, photo sharing whatever is worth an INSANE amount more then enabling your HSI customers to download porn and cams 2mb quicker then they did before. -- CableFAQ.org

I guess it all depends on what you want out of your service. I'm not a huge binaries downloader, but games and music are things my kids like. Comcast providing those things saves me a few bucks a month. I'll take it. |

CableToolPoorly Representing MYSELF.Premium join:2004-11-12 | reply to spewak Lest my point be lost amongst all my drippingly sexy sarcasm-
Complaining and saying that its "Horse Sh!t" that a company revamped a small feature that they had and sent out a communication about and thinking that they did THIS instead of upping the nations speeds or are doing this as opposed to upping the nations speed or are focusing on the Financial Portal Solely instead of focusing on upping speeds is more or less trolling to me.
And getting upset because a company is trying to increase and add personal value to its products but it isnt exactly what YOU would like to see ( being one of 23million ) just seems a little silly to me. Not to mention a waste of a good SCREW COMCAST post. -- CableFAQ.org
