for those areas where this is the ONLY option, then yes, this is moving forward. otherwise there are still only 2 options, right? dsl or wimax through bs or cable. not to mention that bs is not going to compete seriously against itself, as you can see by the 384 speed and 29.99 price tag.

Regardless on how you look at it, an additional broadband option is moving FORWARD. The fact now that some areas may have now 4 different options for broadband (cable, dsl, wimax, sat) is moving forward.

Other areas that will begin to see Wimax will have much higher speeds (assuming they already have DSL or cable). Areas that only have dial up or satellite internet will see these type of speeds at first. The way the operators are looking at it is that people will be glad to have any kind of broadband (other than sat) so even 384k is welcome. The other thing is that they can offer 384k, keep customers happy, AND make some decent $$. This is the real driving factor for BS in this case.
