| reply to justin said by justin :6. Improved the Profile+ editing system. did it break the display on the user pages, or is it supposed to look like this?
take bobrk s profile, for instance. There is a title Profile+ that is bolded, but then all the titles below it are not bolded, indented, or anything to distinguish them from the text.
But then the "RC5" and "Home Connection" titles are bolded like before. -- DSLR tools Journal |

The rest are individual key : values and a couple of very large ones. |

| reply to justin Regarding the "group line monitors"...when signing up, you enter your zip but nothing shows up to reference the area a participant is from. Perhaps I'm just missing something, but when looking at the "group" I would find it useful if I knew the area a member was in. -- Anticipate Nothing...Expect Everything |

1 edit | reply to justin A few more things I can remember
1. site search »/nsearch for posts now gives you info down the left hand side allowing you both see what forums are involved in a search, and to narrow your search dynamically. (stole the idea from fatwallet)
2. a long topic of posts can be searched (search box is above any topic view). No matter how many pages it is, all hits are displayed up to your pagination limit
3. »/prefs/forum includes an option for 'big thumbnails'. Pictures attached to posts instead of appearing at 200 wide will appear at 600 wide! Example topic to see the benefit of this: »Might get an XBOX360 just for this game
4. I think instant message indicator should flash yellow or red correctly now
5. The speed test page shows the global daily limit for the user at the top as little red blocks (11 tests maximum per 24 hour period)
6. The grouped line monitors are pretty much setup and working ok and the glitches/improvements are done.
I can't remember what else. |

could you attempt similar grouping for the threads?

It seems something screwed up in the process though, it is displaying the topic text twice under each topic listed. -- DSLR tools | Journal | SBKRadio

| yeah, that's what I mean
You are right about the longer ones though, they don't repeat.
For example, here is a page of search results. repeated text from the yellow is highlighted in green. It just seems kind of silly to repeat text... -- DSLR tools | Journal | SBKRadio

| reply to justin A big MAHALO for the changes you have made on the advanced search page! I'm not sure exactly when you made the changes as I used to avoid searching (unless I really needed to) because that page was cluttered and hard for me to find the forum I wanted to search in so I haven't used it in awhile. Reading the current posts in this thread today got me to look at advanced search and I was delighted to see the changes.
I love the groupings and the bolding of each group header. It is MUCH faster now for me to locate what forum(s) I want to search in. I mostly do advanced searches, and usually in specific forums, so the clutter of that page has bothered me for a long time. Plus, my aging eyes had trouble with the small font. This is a wonderful improvement.
One question though. I just did an advanced search and chose "older" button. Ordered by date, the search went from June 15, 2005 to 2001. I didn't realize "recent" now goes back approximately 18 months? So, if I am looking for posts in the last 18 months, I should choose the "search recent" button instead of "older" button?
Advanced search is excellent now. Fast, accurate and I really like that I can sort it in three ways and resort after receiving results. That is very helpful. -- "If you want to do DRM on a PC then you need to treat the user as the enemy." Ross Anderson in "`Trusted Computing' Frequently Asked Questions"

| reply to justin The speed test selection page now shows "distance" from the user to the speed test site.
How is that calculated? Mine is showing 200+ miles to Parsippany - and the only way that's possible is if it's calculating the route the packets are taking based on a tracert.... -- Q: When will it be done? A: When pigs fly ! |

justin Australian join:1999-05-28 Brooklyn, NY | geo center of your zip, or the town your IP is supposedly based in (if you don't have a zip) to geo center of the zip of parsippany, via straight line distance calculated using the haversine formula which is accurate except around the poles. |
