[info] DSL Extended in my rural area

I've been on DSL for 18 months with a speed of 620kbps and I'm over 15,000 feet from the downtown Seymour CO. Not much could be done with the distance but now with 50 new homes and a industrial park added to my area, the phone company came up with a way to push DSL out into the rural areas. I was hoping for an RT someday at this location that had a nice pole mounted green double door cabinet with a phone guy there almost every other day.
A month ago I noticed phone trucks working all over the plant and a mysterious white box was mounted on the pole with a red light. I never seen anything like that anywhere else but a couple weeks later "DSL is here" tags were on everyone's mailboxes. I called service "India" which after their unplug and put it back routine finally directed me to the right party and a service ticket was made to switch me over to the new system. It's been 10days today and I now have 1.266mbps compared to the old 620kbps. I searched the internet to find out what the white box is on the pole and I can't find anything. I don't think it's a mini-RT but probably some sort of DSL extender. I've attached photos for you to check it out and maybe someone knows what is the technical name for this white box that can boost DSL further out from the CO. The incoming lines from the CO are on the left side of the picture and the outgoing lines are on the right side of the picture feeding my area along with the industrial park and new adult community homes down the road..

Wow, congrats ezman you must be pretty happy, erdsl kinda flew under my radar. When you asked about it I was looking for dates for a full fledged RT. I didn't get inolved in erdsl, I may take another ride out in the AM for a peek.

The exact location is Rimmon Hill Rd about 600ft north of West Street in Beacon Falls.
If you do stop by, take a look over to the left of the pole about 100 feet in the field. If you know someone who is a VW classic car collector, there's an abandoned orange VW bus early 70's vintage that has been sitting for years in the brush.
The property has horses and there is a black cadillac in the driveway with #2 on the plate. Must be someone important or the family had the second car registered in the state and got to keep the number.

Wow, too bad they left the door open on the bus, probably full of mice and such!
