| BEFSX41 + RASPPPoE As A Backup
I'm using the router all the time but I also want to keep RASPPPoE connection as a backup.
As I have only one ethernet card in the PC, using a switch/hub is not possible. Reconnecting a few cables to bypass the router to connect to the internet straight through the modem is the easiest solution.
After that, if you want to plug the router back in, is it necessary to uninstall RASPPPoE and delete all references to it on Network Connections screen? Or is there a way to setup Local Area Connection to avoid any conflicts between RASPPPoE and the router?
RASPPPoE is a weird beast, it is concealed as "dial-up" connection.

When the PPP connection is disconnected the LAN connection should still be there. I never use DHCP so it may take a renew when you switch cables.
I have RASPPPoE installed on several systems, including a laptop, for those times you just need a simple connection.
I highly suggest a good personal firewall on the PC - you're connected in the raw with RASPPPoE! |

Thanks, Bill_MI
I have ZoneAlarm-Free, I run it together with the router, just in case. |

| I just learned something looking up other things... the BEFSR/SX routers have "PPPoE Pass-Through". Enable it and if your ISP allows it like mine does, just dial up anytime for a direct connection without affecting other LAN machines. |

| Enabling PPPoE Pass-Through doesn't work here. RASPPPoE gets stuck at "Dialing" and won't connect. BESFX41, fmwr 1.45.7
