Even if the unions folded and corporations were able to cut wages as they want, prices for products and services would NOT be lowered (as some erroneously claim). We already have a large number of people who are considered "under employed" who find it difficult to afford even the barest of necessities.
Sure, without a union in the middle, a corporation is free to hire people at any wage they will accept, and there will always be a number of people willing to work for peanuts just to have some sort of income. But it doesn't bode well for our "standard of living" for the future. |
