Hi, thanks for taking the time to post. I was able to get it worked out and re-configged with the modem I had. Apparently there were other problems with the way the account was set up. It's working great now and I couldn't be happier.
The sync and ready lights were solid. I wasn't able to get anywhere but the modem config - couldn't get an external IP address. No pings came back. This was with multiple restarts of the modem and computer, and everything on the PC set to automatic.
So, it works great now with my Windows XP/Vista box. Don't know why, but neither Mac we have will connect consistently when plugged directly into the modem. Sometimes they work, more often they don't and can't get an external IP. I'll have to work with them - I know it's not the modem now because it works great with the PC.
As far as CATV, I just got Digital Big + Showtime to start. I thought the standard box was available with something other than composite out, but the tech said he hadn't seen any recently. So, since I've got an HDTV, I signed up today to switch the box out and am looking forward to having the HD box installed in a couple of weekends. |
