Re: Internet Roaches!

what do you prefer: an internet free of pop-up ads where there aren't free services to be found, or an internet ripe with free services that are funded by pop-up ads that are easily disposed of?

quit yer bitchin' and help keep the internet free.

Re: Internet Roaches!

I reserve my right to hate pop-up advertisements. And I reserve my right to bash them whenever I want to. (We have this thing called free speech, remember? ) If companies want to advertise, there are lots of unintrusive ways of doing so. Spending God-know-how-much money for the pop-under ads won't do anything for X10's bottom-line. It's already done wonders for their reputation-- it did much more harm than my expression of irritation.

You go ahead and enjoy them. As for me, I could care less.

Its amazing how people (children in particular) get so irate about advertising on the internet, as if transmitting data over a copper string (owned by someone else) could be somehow be equated with freedom of speech. Radio frequencies are a limited resource that the public does have an interest and right to allocate, yet these same foul mouthed children don't seem to be bothered by the beer, deodorant, automobile, and other useless junk peddled on their TV's. Go figure. If they object to looking at pop-ups, they can use a utility to block them.

Re: Internet Roaches!

This is still unsolicited advertising. A TV viewer or Radio listener has the simple ability to change the channel to avoid the ads. Also, they make a good bathroom break.

What are you going to do while surfing? Get up every three minutes? Also, there are many people not aware enough of what's going on, or know how to find and install these blockers.

Shoot, I'm happy that my Dad communicates by email now. Why should he have to worry about such a nuisance? He hasn't reached the age yet that he'll need a 3 minute reminder for bathroom breaks.
