| WGT624 V3 connecting to Vonage router no DHCP help
I have a linksys Vonage router hooked to my adelphia modem. Then I have the Netgear WGT624 V3 connected to the Vonage router. The problem is I am not getting any wireless internet connection from the netgear unless, I change my laptop to a static IP then I have internet. Without static ip I get limited or no connectivity. I have DHCP off on the netgear and DHCP on for the Linksys. |

| Yes SSID broadcast is on with wep security. Ok I just got it to give out ip without my laptop having a static ip. I put in a static ip route on the netgear pointing to the Linksys at 192.168.1.1 which works put after I save the setting I can no longer get to the netgear setup page at 192.168.1.3 but the netgear is giving out ip's now. So I don't know if this is the right way to do it since I can no longer able to get to the netgear setup page. |

| The Linksys has an LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 and the Netgear has a LAN IP of 192.168.1.3,right?
And you set it up,as I showed earlier, with the two units connected LAN port to LAN port,WAN port NOT USED on the Netgear? -- I'm just a Material Handling Tech.If it's too heavy, get a Forklift. |

| reply to Craigc540 Hi there - I recently had a client with exactly this problem. The problem is with the Netgear WGT624 V3. If you go to the Netgear support website and do a lookup for the FAQ on the WGT624V3 you'll find a document about setting up the router as an Access Point. In the notes it states that DHCP information might not be passed through the Netgear correctly.
The fix I made was to enable the DHCP server in the Netgear. However - one has to be careful to set the IP range so as not to conflict/duplicate addresses from the other DHCP server. I achieved this by giving each DHCP server a different range of addresses. e.g DHCP server 1 - 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.2.100 DHCP server 2 - 192.168.2.101 to 192.168.200 Also note that the DNS server for DHCP server 2 must be the IP address of the router running DHCP server 1.
This fix worked for us. |

| reply to Craigc540 Just to be more specfic on your setup try this:
Linksys DHCP server set to 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.99 DNS - leave as it is set now Netgear DHCP server set to 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.200 DNS - 192.168.1.1 |

| reply to Craigc540 Hi Again - we've been experimenting and found an easier way to solve this problem. Please ignore my previous two posts and try this.
In the Netgear on the LAN Settings page - enable RIP (Both) and select RIP1. Looks as if it's turned off as a default value. Most routers have RIP turned on by default but not this little puppy.
Worked much better than the previous solution. |
