1 edit | reply to EG Just tested the old Zyair router and that didn't do justice to the Blast! upgrade. With router hooked up which is a 10/100 I only got 8000 max and now with the new router with 1000 support

Well I just called and spoke to Comcast regarding my current speed of Blast! and they said that it is available in my area (main Comcast is Ivyland). I should be getting relatively decent speeds, however I am not even seeing those "advertised speeds", mainly because I think it is the crap router my wife's company makes her use (ZyAir G2000) and it only has a WAN of 10/100.
Would I need a router that has 10/100/1000 to see the speeds from the Blast!? |

his answer was, we're scheduled for 16/1 in the future, but the date hasn't been decided.

The 16mbps/1mbps also has a speedboost on it, but that's not what is being talked about, certainly not in the NJ area. Please move this back. F.W.I.W., from the moment that I was upgraded to the "Blast" 16/1, and shortly thereafter, the 16/2 tier, I no longer saw any of the effects of the Powerboost feature... -- Let us never forget 9/11 |

sortofageek - you incorrectly moved this to the powerboost forums. This is NOT powerboost. This is a SUSTAINED bootfile to allow 16m down, 1m up. end of story.
It is a beta, in a sense.
If you are going to scold me about this, please at least allow me to know what this might be.
You gave no link as a clue and your post is a reply to this post ---> »Re: [Speed] Post here about the new 16/1 speeds
I read that post, but it didn't help me know what upset you. I didn't move that post anywhere.
Edit for everyone: Just FYI, if it looks like PowerBoost and no evidence is provided it is Blast!, I am moving the reports to the PowerBoost thread. So, those of you convinced you have Blast!, please convince me. -- Join Team Helix * I am praying for these friends . |

As for you WiFiSpy, the reason you are getting those speeds is because they are MULTIPLE connections. The same thing with download managers, you can potentially get faster than your theoretical limit on your connection when you "flood" your connection with multiple down streams. But it bogs -everything- down, and packet collision can occur.
Also, when you start getting up around those 30+mb speeds, you can run into some HDD issues as well!
The 16mbps/1mbps also has a speedboost on it, but that's not what is being talked about, certainly not in the NJ area. Please move this back. |

Any word on us up here on Comcast North Bay? We're in Mendocino County, an area that was transitioned from Adelphia to Comcast earlier this year. |
