Well I think today Ill call and see about getting the 16/1 Speeds back. Should be good for a laugh.
Im guessing it will Go something like this.
Boqu: Hi I recieved the letter about the free upgrade to 16/1 for existing 8meg customers. I had the new speed until I switched modems. Could you see about restoring them to this modem.
Comcast: Sir we arent offering 16/1.
Boqu: Well I have a letter from comast saying different, and I had the new speed last week before switching modems.
Comcast: Could you hold please.
Comcast: Im sorry for the wait sir. Im unaware of the letter you are referring to or any 16/1 package.
Boqu: Eh
Yeah something like that Im guessing.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention. Since I exchanged modems I cant login to my comcast account. It lets me change the password but then not log in. However the ftp for online storage works. Stuff like this is just another example why I hate changing anything with Comcast. |

1 edit | reply to Junior2377 I guess that means I won't be getting the upgrade (pretty sure we are on some type of promotion since we just had to sign back up with Comcast - we had FiOS and then we moved about 4 miles down the road and we can't get it back). They are such a crooked company. |

| reply to sortofageek Well I Called. I never even got to the 16/1 issue. They couldnt get past getting my login / pass to work. The 1st lady spent 20 minutes trying resetting passes. "Im sorry sir it doesnt want to work" Then we mysteriously got disconnected. The 2nd Guy spent 20 minutes trying. He wanted my modems MAC # atleast. Still surprising just to get a login / pass working but whatever. So then he gives up and says someone will call me within 24 hours. Hard to believe a second tier tech needs to call me to get a login working after a simple modem swap. Glad I dont actually use Comcasts account for email. /me calls to check FIOS availability. |

No FIOS that I am aware of. Closest place I know is a friend who is getting FIOS installed in Cherry Hill, NJ this Friday, who is about 15 miles away. |

Thier is fios in a towns a mile or so away guess that's why we got it. |

Last month there was a news that Comcast tookover timewarner (roadrunner). So my speed went down from 5Mbps/356Kbps to 4Mbps/356Kbps.
Well... I was updating my yahoo music (file: 17MB) and saw it download, i was like woooowwww what happened. did a speed test now i am averaging about 14-16Mpbs/356Kbps. |

| reply to sortofageek 3 days Later a tier2 tech calls. Got home from work and service was shutoff , message on answering machine that they wanted permission to wipe the old account to try to get my login / pass working lol. Glad I dont use comcast email. Called the 1-888 number and a regular customer agent got me back online and with the 16 Meg .cfg. He still couldnt get a login / pass working heh.
Was getting the full 16 direct from modem , this is with my router..seems the poor fella cant handle the full 16 |
