Blast! Upgrade Available in Newton, MA

Comcast Blast available in Newton, MA from 30 June. The new boot file is: d11_m_sb5120_speedtierextreme2_c01.cm with the '2' added now.

An email from Comcast arrived 12 July confirming the Blast-2Meg upload along with the already in place 16Meg download speeds.

Blast Upgrade Available in Doylestown, PA

Hey Naediel thanks for the heads up! I just rebooted my modem here in Dowlestown, PA and got the upgrade. I have the Blast! tier here and was receiving 16/1. Looks like they changed it to 16/1.7 now. I cannot go above 1.7 on my upstream side. On a side note my downstream mas increased from 19Mb/s to 22Mb/s!

Pretty cool! I love FiOS competition!

Are you paying for the Blast! tier? Does it show up as Blast! on your bill?

Yes it does sortofageek. I signed up for the Blast! tier two months ago and have been charged since for it. Personally, I love it over the silver tier. I love watching it pull a steady 2MB/s!

Since many here already have it that doesn't make a ton of sense.
Plus what about the other modem makers?

Was EG right when questioning about firmware?

It's less dependant on firmware versions to get 16/1 or 16/2. Firmware seems to be more of an issue with older modems where they could have a DOCSIS 1.0 version.

Re: Blast Upgrade Available in Crofton, MD

has nothing to do with cable modems, its the CMTS. We use 2 types if CMTS here in AA county, a BSR motorola and a Arris C4. the Arris has the config for the speed upgrade. Were waiting on a config file from Motorola for the BSR (CMTS)

This is consistant with the information I was given a few weeks back. We shall soon see.

I'm located in Reston, Virginia, and we have been seeing 16/1 for over a year. Back in October of 2006 we were bumped up to 16/2.

Here is the post with info from my leased Terayon modem showing the configuration:

»Re: [Speed] Post here about the new 16/1 or 16/2 speeds

It was because of this post, and the following replies, that I decided to turn in my used, scratched, and dented Comcast modem for a brand-new Motorola SB5120. I brought the new modem home, provisioned it with no problems, and have consequently been stuck at 16/1 ever since.

The good news is that I now hit 90% of my upload speeds rather than 75%-80%, so there probably was an issue with my leased modem that was choking some of my upload potential. The bad news is that there seems to be a disconnect between what Comcast thinks is going on, and what is actually going on where I live.

I still have the color pamphlet mailer that Comcast sent me on March of this year outlining the various speed options available to me, including the costs.

Online service with another Comcast service:

$42.95 6/768
$52.95 16/2

Online services only:

$57.95 6/768
$67.95 16/2

Additional IP Addresses (per IP address): $6.95

The ad flier is "cm328.reston", with the heading stating "Important Price Information Enclosed!", and it can be found by a savvy support supervisor; however, I've given up attempting to get my speeds back to 16/2 and have just accepted whatever they give me. Right now my speeds have been solid at 16/1. Not bad, but it hurts a bit knowing I had 16/2 for almost half a year.

The only thing that changed was my modem, and the configuration file, which included the modem type in the name.

This is a service announcement and only a service announcement.

For those who have not noticed, an attempt is being made to gather reports from specific areas and add links to them by state in the first post in this thread. HERE

End of service announcement. We return you to your regularly scheduled reporting.

Re: Blast Upgrade Available in Crofton, MD

The Arris C4 is an amazing work horse, it delivers DOCSIS 3.0-based functionality in both the I-CMTS & M-CMTS. It will be a great transferable machine when cable moves to the DOCSIS 3.0 standard.

Blast Upgrade Available in Fayette City, PA

Speedtest 07-17-2007
Blast.....PowerBoost.......I can't tell......

I just received a letter from Comcast stating that 16/1 Blast is now an available solution. The mailing states that the "upgrade" is free and my current subscription rate of $55.95 per month will not change.

Fayette City Pa 15438 (Southwest Pa)

This is the first publication(conventional mail or electronic mail)that I have received concerning this, but a previous post from 12-22-2006 showed what I thought was PowerBoost

»Re: [Connectivity] Super Comcast Speeds

Speedtest from today

my bad for not adding this....current billing period 07/13 - 8/12 shows only the line item detail of "Comcast Internet" on both my paper and electronic statement. Perhaps the next billing cycle will add more detail.
