Hi sorto.
Although I have previously posted about having "Blast 16/2" in other threads, I just realized that I have never officially posted that information in this thread, so I am doing so now
By the way, I previously subscribed to the "Gold" tier (8/768), and was automatically upgraded to "Blast" around 6 months ago at the same price ($52.95).
It was a pleasant surprise indeed ! I am located in Union, New Jersey.
P.S.,for what it is worth, there is still no sign of "Fios" being available any time soon in this local area....
P.P.S., I did not have to powercycle my moden.. -- Let us never forget 9/11 |

I would love to have a Cisco 10012, as its able to do what 5 C4's can do. Its easier to manage. |

I signed up for the Blast! Upgrade for 12 months free. Using speed tests, I cannot confirm the download speed up to par with the actual 16/1 because I'm only receiving about 8/1. |

There is no blast in CA yet but I spoke to a comcast representative and she said about it would take about 2 months to upgrade the bay area lines in order to get blast because our lines are so bad. No word of fios in my area but there is fios in san francisco. |

sortofageek - you incorrectly moved this to the powerboost forums. This is NOT powerboost. This is a SUSTAINED bootfile to allow 16m down, 1m up. end of story.
It is a beta, in a sense.
As for you WiFiSpy, the reason you are getting those speeds is because they are MULTIPLE connections. The same thing with download managers, you can potentially get faster than your theoretical limit on your connection when you "flood" your connection with multiple down streams. But it bogs -everything- down, and packet collision can occur.
Also, when you start getting up around those 30+mb speeds, you can run into some HDD issues as well!
The 16mbps/1mbps also has a speedboost on it, but that's not what is being talked about, certainly not in the NJ area. Please move this back. |

If you are going to scold me about this, please at least allow me to know what this might be.
You gave no link as a clue and your post is a reply to this post ---> »Re: [Speed] Post here about the new 16/1 speeds
I read that post, but it didn't help me know what upset you. I didn't move that post anywhere.
Edit for everyone: Just FYI, if it looks like PowerBoost and no evidence is provided it is Blast!, I am moving the reports to the PowerBoost thread. So, those of you convinced you have Blast!, please convince me. -- Join Team Helix * I am praying for these friends . |
