The only thing different I noticed is if you have an Icon on the desktop for a web page like "my ebay" it gets a partial browser then locks up. From the favorites menu it works fine. |

True. But I guess what I'm asking is if I don't update to IE7(I only use Outlook, no messenger), will I be leaving myself open? Basically if I can pass on the update and still be secure. |

IE tab just runs a tab like an IE shell browser, all the properties, and vulnerabilities of IE.... It is best to keep IE updated also for the fact many programs like messenger programs use IE's .dll files. |

At some point IE6 will not/cannot be updated, and IE 7 will be needed, they are also considering this a critical update.
I don't plan on using IE for more than WU, but I updated to it.

just got tired of digging through posts of people complaining about not being to install MSIE 7 because of validation,, if somone has a pirated copy, it won't validate....
but why pollute this thread??,, make a 'I have a bogus copy so it won't validate, so I can't install MSIE7'....
I didn't call anyone personally a pirate, but those who protest too much sure makes me wonder.. but, they sure made a mess of this thread..
I just say go make a thread for crying..

I know that but I was talking more towards internet use.

Because WGA validation is not the problem....WGA NOTIFICATION is the "crap". Two different things. Hence, when someone complains that MS wants to validate their copy of XP before allowing IE7 to install, that is suspect.
And please take note of just who brought this topic up.  |
