| Fios with no router at all For some reason in the past I was able to hook fios up straight to the jack with no router at all for testing apps and stuff with ports. For some reason I can't do it now and all I get is limited or no connectivity, I even reformatted and it didn't do anything at all. I went to cmd and released ipconfig and renewed it and it was still a no go. I tried making a new connection (ppoe) and it was unable to dial. Any ideas of how I can do this? I also tried searching and found one thread but it wasn't really helpful.... thanks. | |

| Verizon WAN IP's are on a 2 hour lease, so if you have waited that length of time, you should be able to pull a new IP regardless of whether you released/renewed.
If you are on PPPoE then plugging your computer directly into the jack (ONT) will not work.
If you are still unable to pull a valid IP address, call the FSC and ask them to force release the WAN IP. | |

| Re: Fios with no router at all Well it didn't work for me.. creating a PPOE on my comp.
Here is what I did...
control panel> network> create a new connection> connect to internet>manually>connect using a broadband connection that is always on.
Didn't work. I also tried the username and password option which I entered the ISP as verizon and the username/pass as anything.
Also can anyone tell me where I could release my IP in the router menu? I can't seem to find it.
Also if I wait 2 hours while plugged into the wall are you saying it will possibly work?
Thanks! | |

Thanks. | |

| If you are provisioned PPPoE then you need to Create a connection that requires a user name and password. Give the connection some name, populate FIOS for the name and password, then complete the wizard. It'll open the connect dialog box. Click connect and you're set.

| Just called Verizon.. and yes I am DHCP. He tried to make me release and renew when I was into the wall but it didn't work. He then tried to release something on his end but he couldn't because something is wrong with there systems atm . He said hes gonna call back in a few hours. Also he told me that if I leave my cable unplugged for about 15 minutes it will give me a new IP then I could try renewing.. tried that but it didn't work. sighs. | |
