Well I just got finished talking to a crew of Verizon guys installing the fiber lines in my backyard. They basically told me that where I live Rossmoor they were one of the last places to sign a contract before the Gov. Schwarzenegger signed an anti-monopoly bill. So thank you Rossmoor for being aggressive on signing this with Verizon. Now to all the people who like to blame TW/RR; seriously you guys have to get some balls and go to your city council and tell them to renegotiate or do something. I think it is too late for California residents since that bill was signed.
Rossmoor, Manhattan Beach, I think woodland hills and some other spots he said were really the only places to get all the service contracts signed not just fiber broadband like Huntington Beach. He told me Huntington Beach is different in that they will not have all services yet; this guy was a gray haired super visor and some elderly Mexican so I will take their words. They told me to write down my name, number and address on a paper and in December when they first start unlocking the nodes around the neighborhood I will be the first they call to try out the service.
Basic is gonna be 5MB/2MB Than it is a step up for premium and than for business class he said it is like 30/5. We also get the phone service and lots of HD stuff; I guess their TV service.
What this means for competition for RR is well the guy said what a typical Verizon guy would do for his company. But he was more enthusiastic about all the extra HD,speed and services.
When I had the RR guy out here he kind of snubbed them off with a "oh yah they are gonna be trying to compete...".
Got a nice extra piece of fiber cable they let me have to look at; tri-wired or something new he said about it. I think I will put it under my pillow tonight and the magic fiber cable lady will turn it into something. |
