So x% of whatever add revenue generated during copyrighted material display go's to so-in-so contractee. In this way it remains profitable for google, and provides additional profit to copyright holders. but if you take everything down that people go there for, ad revenue wont be there and youtube will just go away like all these other sites that were good until money came along and ruined them.
