[XP Home] Saved 2003 pst file won't open in Outlook 2002??

I have saved all my old contacts onto a memory stick. I created this database on Outlook 2003. My new computer has Outlook 2002 and the two versions do not seem to be compatible. Since I don't have access the Outlook 2003, is there a program I can download that will allow me to convert my Outlook pst file(2003) to be able to import it into my Outlook 2002?

Running WinXP Home Edition

You might try opening it with 2003, export to a file, and then import to 2002.

O2003 did change the pst format and it is not backward compatible. The only converting way I am aware of is to use Outlook 2003 again and save under the 97-2002 pst format.

I agree with Mem See Profile. Create a new PST using the old format with Outlook 2003. Then just copy the items you wish to import by selecting and pasting into the folders you wish in the new PST that you have opened. Once you have everything copied you can close the PST and then put it on a CD or move by other means to the new PC.

Another way to do this is to create a new profile in Outlook 2003 and make sure the PST is the old format. Import the data from your old profile into the new and then just switch back to the original profile and move the PST to the other computer.

I can't believe Microsoft didn't create an export function that would convert a PST to the 97-2002 format. This was a major omission IMHO.
