Re: How to Install IE7 Bypassing Genuine Windows Validation

I will not install IE7 either. Firefox suits me just fine and my new notebook this Spring will be free of Windows.

Many companies lie to the consumer knowing that in most cases consumers do no homework on companies they deal with.

FasTrak looks like a CA thing.
The brand, not the technology; see FastPass, EZPass, etc.

Any way, the point is, US companies can and do flat out lie about their monitoring capabilities and practices, including those in government-consumer work. FasTrak is an example. I still have a copy of the letter from FasTrak lying about their monitoring capabilities.

Interesting the trouble some will go just to remove WGA even if their copy of Windows is legit.

For anyone that feels so strongly about WGA they should either get used to the fact MS is going to use it and accept it or move to an OS not made by MS.
Some people will go through all those changes because even if their stuff is legit, it is possible for MS to say it isn't. As I have had happen twice recently on brand new machines!

I even booted into Winblows today thinking I may want to check out this new IE7. Nope, not going to. Sounds like a big POS!!

Sticking with Opera all the way!!

The author of that first link is from Bagladesh, I wouldn't doubt pirated copies of everything is the norm there, so the need to bypass this would probably be a big deal for most there.
A little like pretending that one is going to sign for DSL when it is not available eh?

Yes I have heard of these devices.

Event recorders have been around for some time and used by numerous agencies and businesses. A black box as the article says.

No where does it say they phone home nor do I think that the person that made the statement can prove all new cars phone home.

FasTrak looks like a CA thing.

This has gone OT enough.

Some links to prove that please.

This is far more than OBD II.

Not to mention FasTrak - are used to track you, if you have one; that's how 511.org gets congestion data.

I own an '06 Chevrolet, and it has no way of "phoning home".
Really? Are you sure? I intend to keep my 98 Ford Escort ZX2 for as long as possible. All the new cars phone home.
No Onstar on my truck, why spend all that extra money?

And if it did phone home, all they would get is that I drive alot, listen to alot of music and talk radio (and I even replaced the stock radio with aftermarket, so if they hid the "phone" in there, then I got rid of it! LMAO)

For those worried about "phoning home" stuff:

Throw out your cell phones. Your phone company knows exactly where you are. And so does the police, who have access to cell phone information if they need to track you down.

Those who won't buy a chevy because it "phones home" should immediately cancel their cell phone plans. Buy a pager, it is hard to track.
I don't have a cell phone for this very reason. I like having some privacy. That is more important than jabbering loudly with irritating ring tones on a cell in public. People with cells should at least have some common courtesy. I don't I want to hear their conversations. Those should be private. I can't understand the rudeness and total lack of concern for privacy of cell phone users. I've heard credit card numbers with all the information I would need to do identity theft from loud mouthed cell phone users who also just love to have screaming arguments in public on their phones.

I know I wish I knew where Mele got her info about all of the new cars phoning home I would surely buy one for similar reasons.

Since 1990 there has been a OBDII required of US vehicles but they do not phone home.

Only a matter of time before all cars have that. Guess people will have to stop driving too.
Either that or stop driving like idiots.
Oh yeah...that's gonna happen. Well, it could. Step one would be for everyone to hang up and drive.
