one problem replaces another

Greetings,

i have finally got my router all up and running, turns out the reason it didn't work was because i didn't hold the reset button long enough. i held it for about 10 seconds but was told by netgear 20-25 and hay-presto it worked.

And if you didn't read my last post i have a WPN824v2 and a WPN111.

Anyway i have the router seemingly connected fine and the pc that is connected to it by the ethernet is running the internet fine and i am able to access the router configuration screen where i can change all the router settings

My upstairs pc with the WPN111 has been installed and it comes up with my SSID for downstairs fine. The problem is that it isn't getting and IP address from downstairs so i can't access the internet.

Also i have tried to put a hard drive as being shared by the network but again no luck.

is there something really stupid that i have not done on the router setup like not clicking on file sharing or something?

cheers in advance
