| Uverse is a package deal to where we are currently offering
IPTV High Speed Internet And soon VOIP
in One package.
FTTP is nothing more than a designation for the physical carrier. It does not specifically list if you are on the DSL or Uverse Infrastructure.
Currently, Richardson Texas does not have Uverse deployed so you are on the DSL infrastructure. -- Eventus stultorum magister Ad Nocendum Potentes Sumus

If you happen to be in Richardson and you happen to be FTTH, does this necessarily mean that we are going to get Uverse more quickly than say an ADSL customer in Dallas or wherever?
I understand why ATT has changed most of Richardson from FTTC to FTTH and it was not to speed up getting Uverse here. But now that we got it, why not use it?

[EDIT]: and not only that, it was "AT&T BROADBAND" (remember that adventure?) that originally pushed the launch of the digital voice on what is now comcasts networks. imagine what it would be like with at&t having almost everything now, and then still having AT&T BROADBAND...scary

It merged with Comcast, and would not have been part of the SBC purchase of "AT&T". He said same thing about Wisconsin being next. Roll out in Texas is happening as fast at they can.

| Uverse is much better than FIOS. FIOS has to dig up your yard and once you go fiber to the house, you can NEVER go back to coax cable...EVER!! FIOS you have to rent your boxes monthly. The Uverse menu guide is great! Whole home DVR.....FIOS doesn't do that!!!!
And...consumers do not have a choice. If you live in a verizon area, uverse can NOT be installed. The same applies for AT&T areas, FIOS is not an option. Depending on where and what street you live on determines what iptv provider will service you.

| Re: New U-Verse availability map now online! Uverse doesn't have whole-house DVR either. Next year, maybe.
FiOS doesn't always have to dig up your yard, only if your current cables are buried. Even if they do, grass is self-replicating.
FiOS has many, many times the bandwidth of Uverse. Picture quality is better, there's no 1 HD channel at a time viewing limit, Internet bandwidth is a multiple of what Uverse offers... yes, it costs more to do the job right, but it's worth it.
Complaining about not being able to go back to copper is like complaining that you miss your buggy whip. You'll get over it.

| They're installing the fiber equipment in my apartment complex in west Houston. The boxes are installed but no power meter yet, and this past week they have been tearing up the grass out front installing conduit. Does anybody know how I can find out the timetable as to when Uverse will be available to me? It's already available to houses, my brother switched a couple months ago from TWC and loves it. They (he and his buddy) have all the movie channels but pay less than they did with basic digital from TWC, and he says the picture quality is much better, channel changes are much faster, less latency with the internet. I don't want to deal with the impending TWC/Comcast swap so I'm anxiously awaiting AT&T video. Any AT&T techs from the Buffalo/Dairy Ashford CO read here? I'm also wondering about getting just video from AT&T without disturbing my current DSL install. I have no use for a phone, my cell more than meets my needs. | |

There is an RT barely 2,000 feet from my house, yet my connection runs 9,156 feet to the CO. RT is "across the street"; the "street" being a six-lane expressway (with a creek running alongside) which pretty much divides the service area. What you see won't necessarily be an indicator of what you may be able to get. Unless you know the wire infrastructure, your "WTF" is pointless. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum
