Just to be an annoying devil's advocate, as I understand it, Verizon and VZW are not actually the same company. VZW is a separate organisation, joint-owned by Verizon and Vodafone plc of England (best known as the former shirt sponsor of Manchester United).

Some of the things VZW does annoy me, but since I'm only using my cellphone for plain old calls, I'm still content with them. Besides, Cingular coverage in my area is atrocious.
