Digital 2.0

To answer to some questions on this thread, we launched the new digital channel line-up for about half the company last night. The other half is scheduled for next week. It was done in two stages to help us avoid too much congestion in our call centers as this type of change always causes people to call in.

One main premise of Digital 2.0 is that we have realigned the channels on digital boxes so they are arranged by type of programming -- If you want sports, they're all together. If you want news, they're all together. Although we are duplicating our analog channels in these new digital "neighborhoods", we are not currently converting those channels from analog to digital. We are looking into a digital overlay, where we convert analog channels into a digital format, but that is not slated until sometime down the road.

For now, Digital 2.0 is for convenience in channel surfing and about many, many additional hours of On Demand programming options. This new release will provide our digital customers with hundreds of additional On Demand choices, most of which will be offered at no additional charge. Much of the new programming will come from our most popular cable networks so, even if you missed a program, you still have a chance to watch it when you can.

And finally, for High Definition enthusiasts, we have added ESPN2, TNT, and MHD (MTV's HD channel) to the lineup of High Def channels.

We hope these changes make your viewing more pleasurable. We will continue to strive to offer you the best choices in video entertainment and broadband connectivity.

We'll be back to you soon with an update on Insight Broadband.

Thanks for the update Mr Willner.

Personally I can't wait to get a speed increase.

10/1

Come on, I could of think of some good things to use 1mb upload for and the download is overkill and by looking at some of the other High speed cable providers, not that many have that kinda speed as standard tier.

Good thing Insight doesn't have all those tiers like comcast does.

So Insight Digital 2.0 is not going to include the digital overlay. I am very disappointed that Insight did not take this upgrade opportunity to introduce the digital overlay. It would be nice if the analog channels would be broadcast in the much better digital format. Insight needs to have all digital channels in order to compete with the two satellite dish services. The two satellite dish services offer all digital channels. Just how far down the road is this digital overlay going to take place? Does Insight have a date when this digital overlay is going happen?
I would hope that it would take place soon. The channels being organized in groups and the new free spot on demand selections sound like good enhancements to Insight Digital. Will there be any changes to the program guide, localsource, on demand interface and the channel flip bar on the standard digital boxes? Will there be any changes to the TV Guide interactive on the dvr boxes? As of now the Lexington Kentucky Insight system has not received the digital 2.0 upgrade yet. Hope the upgrade happens soon. Insight please consider starting the digital overlay soon. All channels that Insight offers should be offered in digital quality.

Only when the management feels that we need it.

Boomerang isn't about Thomas the Train. And the pathetic On Demand only shows about 5 unique programs and only switches episodes out once a month.

I've been pushing to get Boomerang for a long time as well. Why the heck do we now have TWO Horse Racing channels but still not a channel that many people have been asking about for quite a while??

When will OuterMax be added? That's a Cinemax we've been missing since the launch of digital, atleast in Northern Kentucky.

Realize that you posted a channel that springfield does not have? I mean come on most cable operators have boomerang it shows clean shows not the crap that is on cartoon network.

As for there ondemand boomerang its PATHETIC 7 shows is all they have come on. And they are updated once a month.

The changes sound nice but of course I canceled my Cable Tv with Insight about 2 years ago. I guess I got tired of Insight not offering NBA Tv and NBA League Pass on InDemand , I see so many other cable providers offering it for many years now.

Simply put this is probably the sole 2 reasons why I canceled my cable and went to a Dish. I know others like myself from a Basketball forum who are Insight customers who did the same. Yes , I'm a basketball nut. I do love watching my Indiana Pacers on Fox Midwest , but I love watching other teams also.

I would probably drop my dish in a heartbeat if those 2 channels came to Insight. So I'll wait to hear the new Internet speeds til then.

Clean shows? The only "unclean shows" I've seen on cartoon network are on Adult Swim which is well past the bedtime of most kids.

But yes Boomerang should be added. I probably wouldnt watch it myself but there is a big demand for it.

I just wish we would get the Fight Network, MavTV and more CBC (so I could see some freakin hockey more than once a week).

At the end of September, I bought a new TV and decided to add the "HD Pak" to my Insight account. At that time, I was told the "HD Pak" included ESPN HD, HD Net, HD Net Movies, Discovery HD Theater, and Universal HD.
I was also told that sometime in October I would receive some new HD channels, those being ESPN2, TNT, and MHD.

When the upgrade happened, I noticed that tuning to each channel yielded a "not authorized" message. Upon calling Insight, I was first told that I would have to purchase the "Family Pak" to receive those channels. Since I'm already paying for the "HD Pak" I felt like it would be a little silly to have to pony up like $8.00 or $9.00 a month for a bunch of channels that I don't care about and three extra HD channels. So I called back and talked to another Insight employee. She told me that all Insight employees were originally told that people who subscribed to the "HD Pak" would receive the new channels upon the upgrade, but now they are being told different information and no one really knows whats going on. She suggested I call back tomorrow.

Anyway, I don't know if anyone else has a similar story or the very first person I talked to at Insight was mistaken. No matter what though, I just find it to be a little ridiculous that the three new HD channels aren't included in the "HD Pak."

ed ed and eddy would you let a 3 yr old watch that and its on in the morning not the afternoon slot. The show is gross and makes my son stupider and act out when he watches it. There are a few others but that one stands out.

Take a look at the Central Ohio Digital Lineup: »www.insight-com.com/documents/pr···8.02.pdf

They have a significant number of channels that the many of rest of us do not: many, many multicultural channels; Boomerang (327), CNBC World (413), 4 more family channels, CNN International (410), etc.

I was really hoping to see the Digital 2.0 rollout create a standard channel lineup (which it has - all of the digital channels now seem to be in the same place company-wide) and make sure that everyone has the same amount of stuff.

Is this part of the plan? Get everybody to 2.0 and then get all of the non-local channels carried everywhere, then begin to add stuff to everybody? That would make sense, I think...
