Digital 2.0 and the New HD Channels

I think it's a low blow to force customers to subscribe to an additional Digital Pak to receive the three new HD channels when you already subscribe to the HDTV Digital Pak!

Not to mention I was told when I switched from DirecTV they would be included within the HDTV Pak. Also not to mention I was told that the HDTV Pak would be included in my package bundle along with the first HD DVR. Finally don't mention I was told that an additional HD DVR would be discounted.

At this point it sure seems like I made a good move when I sold both my HD TiVos based on what I was told (or sold). It's not even the money (even though they are much higher) rather it just feels stupid to have to subscribe to a bunch of digital channels you couldn't get me to watch for free to view three HDTV channels I would watch.

I don't blame Insight for not standing by what they told me rather it's my fault for trusting them. I hope they won't blame me when I drop off both of my HD DVRs.

I have heard the entire story how to lower the price they are included in the Digital Pak. Sorry, I wouldn't even care if you raised the HDTV Pak I'd be happy to pay my way but not for more channels I have zero interest in as I already do enough of that with the Basic and Classic Paks.

UPDATE: Now I have been told that the three new HD channels will be available if you subscribe to the HDTV channels. So I might be totally wrong... guess I'll wait and see what happens. I will say Insight's reps have been very nice in dealing with me while I try to figure out which of them are correct.

FINAL UPDATE: To receive the three new HD channels you have to subscribe to Classic and I'm still presuming at least one Digital Pak. But it appears the HDTV Pak is counted as a Digital Programming Pak.

So... as long as I subscribe to classic and the HD pack I will get the 3 new HD channels? If that's correct, that is much better than having to subscribe to the new digital choice package (previously all 3 digital packs). $7.95 is still way too much for only 8 HD channels.

Yes with just Classic and the HD Pak you should be set. DirecTV charges $9.95 for less HD channels so I guess $7.95 isn't too bad. Now I wish I could cancel Classic and still get the new HD channels as I have no interest in the Classic Pak.

Just a follow up. Classic Pak has turned out to be required to receive MHD, ESPN2, and TNTHD in HD even though I have been told several times by Insight this isn't the case. Although I have been told several times it is...

Regardless having to subscribe to a bunch of analog channels (for $27 an month) when you already subscribe to the HD Pak is silly. I certainly wouldn't mind paying more for the HD Pak to offset the expense but $27? Silly enough for me to be cancelling my service.

I refuse to pay for the classic service. So I just get basic and the digital/HD paks.

I was told today that to get the three new HD channels, not only would I need classic service, but I would also need a digital pack, and the HD pack does NOT count.
