Hpguru's Hosts File Error

When I try to update with HostsMan 2.1, I get an error message that the update file is not a valid .zip file. Anyone else having the problem?

Re: Hpguru's Hosts File Error

Url for the hosts file has changed to www.hosts-file.net/download/hosts.zip. That's why HostsMan 2.1 gives an error.

You can use HostsMan 3.0 Beta1. Although it uses the old url, 3.0 allows to edit the update list, including changing the addresses for the hosts files. If you don't feel comfortable with using beta software, you can manually download hosts.zip and then use the import function from HostsMan, until the 3.0 final is out.

Cheers.

Re: Hpguru's Hosts File Error

Thanks. I'd completely forgotten about the new url.

Hi John,

Thanks !

But the original posting (now disappeared) from MysteryFCM said something like (if I remember me well...) that there was a little error in hpHOSTS (something about a few duplicate entries, if I remember me well), that it was corrected, and that you could re-download/re-install it.
Well, we all are human, we all make mistakes sometimes (I certainly do!!!).
Anyhow, there is a hpHOSTS forum, so I guess that people could get there more info if needed.

There will no doubt be a few bumps along the way as this transfer completes. I would just urge everyone to be patient as Steven takes over hosts support and bring any problems which arise to his attention ASAP.

The only bump I encountered was a malfunction of my feeble brain. I had read about the transfer and change of url, but totally spaced on it. Once I started operating at a conscious level, the update went smoothly. Steven is doing a fine job.

Thanks folks

There's a thread on the HostsMan forums concerning the new URL for those unaware (and those running HostsMan 2.x);
