I too went from 1.x to 2.0 without losing anything other than 2 extensions not available for the new version.
Backup your profile directory just to be safe and give it a try.

OK
backed up my profiles, uninstalled 1.x and loaded 2.0 in my /opt directory. Created new likes from three users (forgot to back up their profiles and all went smooth! Of course some extensions were not valid, but all bookmarks were there and viable.
