| How do you stack these up against each other? Guys, what do you think, how would you stack these two boards against each other,

The MSI K8N Diamond Plus

tom's hardware has this on the MSI:

Now, the MSI has a three phase system, unfortunately, but Tom's says it isn't much of an issue. And the MSI has a creative labs Audigy sound controller on board, plus there is at least one PCI-Express x1 and one PCI-Express x4 that are clear of any double wide graphics cards, unlike the DFI. Thing is, the MSI has one less audio connector, so I don't know if the mic or the line in is sacrficed, or if maybe there are front headers so the mic can connect there...
I am leaning towards the MSI, IF I get either one, which I might not, just looking at it right now... -- Let's be nice to each other, k? Life's too short.

| Is the diamond plus for sale even? I know right before AM2 came out they stopped selling them. I had reccomended it in a friends build but the board was non existant. I wouldn't worry about the 3 phase either.
If you can buy it, I think the board is great. For a good stable OC I can't complain. I haven't done much tweaking in a while now, but the MSI paired with an early X2 4200+, and 2gb of OCZ pc4000 EB has been running at 250x11 without incident. Slight vcc bump on the cpu, and no volts on the ram. Along with 2x6800gt's I bought from Podunk, it has run great. The oc itch is getting me again though, but I won't be seling the board till after the holiday's.
As for the DFI, it is another great board. I had the non expert. Can't go wrong with that board either. -- Opie and Anthony XM202 & FreeFM... Spread the Virus!!!!

| I'd go with the DFI strictly on the fact MSI's customer support sucks! DFI has always treated me right, never had a problem. The Expert is the best of the S939 DFI boards for OCing last I had seen, more stable as well. be forewarned, there a zillion adjustments that can be made in the Bios. Oskar definitely knows how to make a serious OCers Bios | |
