Re: Max speed for Earthlink/Qwest?

As I mentioned in the other thread, the capacity issue is definitely not an issue anymore.

ADSL Mode G.DMT
Downstream Bit Rate 1536 Kbps
Upstream Bit Rate 896 Kbps
Downstream Capacity Occupation 20 %
Downstream Noise Margin 43.09 dB
Downstream Attenuation 7.35 dB
Downstream Output Power 19.71 dBm
Upstream Capacity Occupation 93 %
Upstream Noise Margin 12.00 dB
Upstream Attenuation 8.00 dB
Upstream Output Power 12.33 dBm

I know the maximum that Qwest sells is 7 meg (I believe their packages are 1.5, 3, 5 and 7). I just didn't know what the Earthlink contract was with Qwest...

Yes, I know line quality is not the current restriction on your speeds. Now it is only the Telco contract that controls/restricts your speeds.

For the latest news you would have to contact Earthlink as they only resell the speed packages that they are allowed to by the Telco contract terms. If Qwest restricts them to 3.0 Speeds then there is nothing faster unless you get Covad provisioning.

Wow! Using maximum power to get 43db noise margin on a line with 7db attenuation is like using a megaphone when a whisper will do. This telco is killing their system with unneeded noise from crosstalk with such ridiculous settings - I'd hate to be far out from THIS CO trying to get DSL service.
