| [connectivity] DSL Connection being dropped
Starting this morning, my DSL has been disconnecting alot. It has nothing to do with my phone, however, everytime i do pick up my phone, i hear static in it. Even if the phone is unplugged out of my DSL setup, it still disconnects and doesnt sync at full speed.
DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 1120 544 Margin (dB) 6.0 11.0 Line Attenuation (dB) 46.0 31.5 Transmit Power (dBm) 16.6 11.0
thats my statistics. I am on the 3/768 plan, but cannot sync at full speed.
This has been an issue before for me, I called up, spoke to 3 support representative's, and got pretty annoyed from going over the same thing with each one of them, untill I requested to speak to someone higher, because the last person I talked to told me "Sir, your modem is tired, please let it rest"...
they made a ticket, the technician came, checked the line, and aparently something was wrong on their side.
My question is, if anybody is having the same issue right now? I live in Brooklyn, New York, and im hesitant to call verizon up again, its just a waste of 30 min's. | | pende_tim Premium join:2004-01-04 Andover, NJ

| I am assuming ALL devices connected to the phone line are filtered and some one has not added a new phone/TIVO, FAX, Alarm system etc? If the filters are in place, It sounds like you may have a loose connection or a short in your loop somewhere. The problem could be inside the house ( your problem) or outside the house, Verizon's problem.
Since unplugging all the phones does not help the DSL sync rates, try plugging a phone into the NID. Does it still have static? If it does, the problem is on Verizon's side of the network.
If there is static on the phone plugged into the NID, then call Verizon VOICE REPAIR and complain of noise on the line. If they fix the static problem, the modem will probably sync at full speed. Have the tech check this while he is there after he fixes the static.
While you are reporting the static/noise on the voice circuit DO NOT MENTION THE DSL problem. If you do you will get transferred almost immediately to DSL support and waste 30 minutes of your life.
If the static is not present at the NID, then it could be an inside wiring problem, which is your responsibility. -- The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. | | marcin5417
