| AVG - I screwed up the update process
I was testing something and set my clock a year ahead for a few minutes. Now my update manager says "next update check scheduled on 10/6/2007 ... and naturally doesn't update. i can manually update no problem, but the auto update doesn't. Any ideas on how to fix?
Using AVG Free edition, latest update (manually updated), Win XP. -- [[Your signature here]] |

Then restart AVG, go back to edit and then recheck "periodically check for updates". -- I used to know all this stuff! |

| For AVG Free 7.5, and maybe 7.1 as well;
* Double click on the AVG icon on the status bar * Click the "Test Center" button if the "Security status" window comes up * When the "Test Center" window comes up, click the "Scheduler" button * Hightlight the "Update plan in Basic mode" line * Click the "Edit Schedule" button * Uncheck "Periodically check for Internet updates" and then follow previous instructions.

| reply to nightdesigns You most likely have corrupted your configuration files. Sir Raleigh 's instructions should fix it up ( http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,17220453;iframe=1#17221031 ). If it doesn't, delete files krnl-0000.cfg and user-0000.cfg. You can find them at: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVG7 Reboot and the configuration files will be rebuilt. -- Write your questions down on the back of a $20 dollar bill and send them to me Microsoft Security MVP |
