| Yeah, this is all good, but... ...$2.00 per TV show? Uhm... DVR? VCR?
$4.00 for a movie? Can you say Netflix boys and girls? Most "Walk-In" rentals are ~$1.00 per movie, right?
For some reason, this MS - Xbox deal doesn't sound all that appealing to me, ya know? -- Think outside the Fox... Opera

Some mom n pop movie places can be that cheap, but not many.
Dadkins is right about Netflix though. I'd have to see the quality first before deciding. Do you get to KEEP the show/movie - or is it a PPV type thing, where you see it once and that's it?

The quality of the movies will supposedly be equivalent to the videos that come pre-loaded on your XBox360 console. There's even a couple of HD videos pre-loaded.
Hopefully, since you can horse your XBox360 to a Windows Media PC, you'd be able to offload it to that for longer term storage.

| Re: Yeah, this is all good, but... yeah and it's people like you that make us pay more to make up for your friends in the right places.
It's the same thing when people go to the hospital and skip out on their medical bills. The rest of us have to pay more to make up for other's. (Yes I understand it's expensive and some people cant handle it, it's just a comparison).

1 edit | Re: Yeah, this is all good, but... Look friend, it's not my fault you do not go to a video rental store where you are known!
I have a friend at the local(not BlockBuster) video rental store, ANYONE that signs up can rent DVDs for $1.00!
My friend lets me know when the new releases are going to get there... Too bad for you!
We also have a RedBox within driving distance(NOTE: RedBox rentals are $1.00!!!!!) ONOES!!!1 »www.redbox.com/
I'm sorry to hear that you do not have a place of business that rents at reasonable prices.
BTW, I *AM* getting what I got coming! Cheap rentals!

| Re: Yeah, this is all good, but... How can you compare digital distribution to driving to the local video chain and renting a movie, then having to return it? These are in HD, too. Better quality than PPV and you don't need cable or satellite TV to get them, just a broadband connection.
Different strokes for different folks, give it a rest dadkins.

| - There's no RedBox in my area. - I don't have an HD DVR for Dish so I can't get HD movies that way. - I don't have a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player so I can't rent them. - I do have an Xbox 360 with a broadband connection, so for me this would be the cheapest and easiest solution.
You have other options, I don't. Like I said, different strokes for different folks.

For some reason, this MS - Xbox deal doesn't sound all that appealing to me, ya know? I look at this service as not really competing with Netflix. It seems more like direct competition to PPV services from Comcast/DirecTV.
The larger hard drive would be nice, but the tv shows that are bought can be deleted and re-downloaded with your live account. Let them pay for the drive space.

| Family Video here in the Midwest, offers two rentals for the price of one $1.00) for seven days. New releases for $2.50 for three days. Video games are about the same. Family Video is the reason that Blockbuster is gone out of Springfield, along with 2nd Cinema. Hollywood Video cannot even compete with them. -- I threw out the map a long time ago.
