By 2008 there will be a huge graphic difference between the Xbox 360 and the PS3! Xbox 360 will not even be in the same league as PS3! Trust me on this
I am talking about First party games of course. |

Trust me on this I am talking about First party games of course. Ummm... Are you smoking crack? I seriously doubt it. At best the PS3 will have a slight edge over the 360. Hardware wise, the differences about equal out. And, how long will it be before the PS3 has a polished game of the same quality as Gears Of War.
Also, I'll take Microsofts Live! over a 3rd party multiplayer solution any day.
P.S. By 2008 the Blue-Ray format will be dead or dying too. Anyone that buys a PS3 is going to be spending $200-300 extra for a Blue-Ray drive. You can't rent Blue-Ray movies and who would want to buy one for $35. What games are going to need more that a full DVD-9 worth of space (nothing...). SONY has a long history of pushing media formats that die - about 10 different ones now (DAT, BETA-MAX, etc etc). |

You can't rent Blue-Ray movies Yes you can.
and who would want to buy one for $35. The same thing was said when DVDs came out. They went for the same price back then. BTW, all the BR discs that I've see sit around $29.99 with many at $24.99.
What games are going to need more that a full DVD-9 worth of space (nothing...). Apparently you haven't read what some of the developers have said about the PS3 games then. All of them are over 9GB as of right now.
SONY has a long history of pushing media formats that die - about 10 different ones now (DAT, BETA-MAX, etc etc). So? What's your point. Sony has also had a long history in dominating the gaming industry and knows what gamers want. MS is trying to get into it and really aren't doing well at it, IMO. Besides, the two formats you listed are huge in the professional industry. |

1 edit | reply to gate1975mlm said by gate1975mlm :I am talking about First party games of course. You better hope and pray that you can find developers willing to develop for the platform. Consider:
- Developers are looking to shave costs while reaching the widest audience possible. - Programming specifically for cell is a PITA - Porting between PS3 and XB360 is relatively easy because their core architectures are basically the same tho straight ports won't use the cells. - Straight ports are cheap and allow you to reach a larger audience.
Looking at the reality of the game industry at this point, I don't think your going to see many exclusives. What owners of PS3s and XB360s are looking at is a long series of titles developed to be cross platform; and considering that the only thing that makes cell better are the cells, if a game doesn't use them the PS3 is nothing but a gimped XB360. PS3 might win on paper but those numbers don't look like they're going to survive the jump to reality which puts it up there with such memorable sony failures as betamax, memorystick, minidisk, and CRT based HDTV's.
As for me, I'll stick to PC and possibly Wii. -- Early to rise, early to bed; Makes a man healthy but socially dead. |

said by Dreven :P.S. By 2008 the Blue-Ray format will be dead or dying too. Fact is you don't know WHICH one will win so you can make the case that Microsoft offering a HD-DVD drive add-on ONLY to it's 360 owners is also putting them in the same boat. What if they buy the HD-DVD add-on for $200 and HD-DVD loses out? $200 out the window. By the way expalin why a HD-DVD add-on can only cost $200 but and actual HD-DVD player is $500?
It's almost 2007 and the next gen DVD wars haven't even really begun. The VAST majority of people still use good old SDTVs. And those that do have HDTVs are still quite sastisfied with good old DVDs. It will be at least 8 years before a "winner" of the next gen DVD wars is determined and by then the XBOX 720 and PS4 will be out. So it won't matter who "won" to PS3 or 360 owners. |

| reply to Dreven they designed the ps3 with lots of room to go unlike the 360 which was rushed out of production early :P so waht if 360 got out first i bet the ps3 will destroy 360 in the long run and sure u dont need anything over 9 gigs for a game right now but what about 1080p games in the long run and stuff? think about the size of maps and quests and crap on ps3 |

What good would it do them to put something out that is 'dated' in three years unless they planned on replacing in three? Just imagine all those folks that think their 'top of the line' is 'current' in 3-5 years. Just a thought. |
