On a smaller scale I have some wiring rats nests (w/o the actual rats at the moment) that resulted from a few too many late night repairs (get the stuff back in the box and close the door before it falls out). Our answer is perhaps the largest nema box I've seen (50"x50"x12") - if I need to babysit the network I could almost live in it for a short time (it will even have a patch panel!). Now we just have to get it on top of the grain elevator.

Thanks for the pics,

Pat

Good grief Pat, I just roped up a 18"x18"x10" steel box 40' and it hurt me.. Koehl's crane ain't cheap, I sure hope your box is aluminum. That and some strong guys if your doing the manuel style..

Well Triston, Nick and I are pretty fat so we're hoping to do the old jump off the building and pull the box up thing - like the native americans that were putting up towers for a while. Actually, it's not super heavy and it if we could modify one landing we could use the manlift to get it most of the way up. Thanks for the concern though.

Pat

Actually, it's both, Rahail. »www.stuart-hall.org (need to get more out there about Technology since I also maintain the website), if you're curious. It's a private boarding (girls)/day (co-ed) school for grades 5-12. Definitely keeps me on my toes. I was going to provide some additional input on the "monitoring" thread since I'm almost done with our own system based on Nagios and Cacti.

Yep, needed a it too. It's Monday, get up first thing this morning and got 1 T-1 down. Every time you call in and ask them not to take down the other leg they take it down too.

Well here goes a half day shot to hell. Ready for a cold beer and it's not even 5 o-clock somewhere yet.

Yea that was good although we do it all the time, short of using people for the weight to get equipment "up top" The device trade works well.. Motor for a motor, conveyor tail for conveyor tail. It does work and is cheaper then the crane or hoist truck.

Pat, just make sure to weight that box first. Could be a wild ride I'll bring the camera

you should see the telco room at the local PD. Between several different phone switches over the years, each when installed getting all new wiring, several dispatch moves requiring new wire runs, and worst of all ALARM COMPANIES direct wiring tehir monitoring, you can't tell one thing from another in there. we even had one alarm company run cabling across our access panel, stopping us from getting into the CEB cabinet. 2 snips later, and the wire was no longer a problem!
