a 169 ip address is assigned by windows...LOL Comcast wouldn't and couldn't send you one. The tech is very confused...
Also, if the DHCP server was down, they couldn't send you anything....LOL |

Anyone who know even a crumb about Windows and networking knows that if the DHCP server is unable to assign a public internet IP address then Windows assigns an internal private IP addrfess, thus the 169 IP address. The Comcast technician was correct...no matter what is going on DO NOT power cycle your modem or you will lose the Comcast IP if the DHCP servers are down. -- I'm not really sure what I am doing, but I'm doing it anyway! |

The tech said that Comcast DHCP would assign a 169 address and it does not. Windows does as you also stated...
