[Streamyx] dsl light blinking every 5 minutes

Hi...
i already subscribed to tmnet for about 2 years. my streamyx 512 connection was ok a few months ago, recently the speed got slower and now the dsl light on the ZTE ZXDSL 831 modem blinks every few minutes.

i checked the dsl parameter status and realized the snr margin is low. if i'm not mistaken, is it bad for low snr margin? what is the normal margin for streamyx? could this be a telephone line problem or modem is failing?

Local Tx Power: 11.95 dB
Remote Tx Power: 16.15 dB
Local Line Atten.: 42.0 dB
Remote Line Atten.: 29.0 dB
Local SNR Margin: 4.0 dB
Remote SNR Margin: 20.0 dB

the modem is connected to the phone line thru a splitter. there is no house alarm/surge protector. i'm not to familiar with the cabling stuff, any help would be appreciated..thanks.

Nope, not the bandwidth test of your connection. We would like to see the speed that your modem is connected at. You can view this info inside the modem where you find your SNR and Attenuation.

sawi, your SNR is low, do u have disconnection problems?

from »forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=222851

> 6dB or below is bad and will experience no synch or intermittent synch problems
> 7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions
> 11dB-20dB is good with no synch problems
> 20dB-28dB is excellent
> 29dB or above is outstanding

lately my line seems to be better, around 8-9 dB now. but on some days [rarely] can go up to 20 dB. guess its the streamyx problem at thier exchange.
i've called streamyx technician to check my phone line. because the dc not so much now, tho snr is still kinda low, he couldnt do anything.
