[OT] Big thumbnail support optional

if you visit »/prefs/forum and see an option under 'modifications to default forum style' called 'big image thumbnails' then check it and save (if you are on a faster connection). Then forum topics with attached pictures no longer thumbnail in a grid to 200 wide squares, but thumbnail to 600 wide pictures.

Now we can all post like Mauricio

When I check the box and hit "update forum Prefs" the checkbox disappears and nothing seems to have changed. Firefox 2.0 on Ubuntu 6.10

Same here, but FF 2.0 on XP.

it is because some pages load the old code and some the new which passes soon if not already.

Yeah, after making that change the checkbox does seem to disappear...and a thread like this still shows small thumbnails: »Sunday Morning Surfers

Will this only impact future threads (i.e. existing threads don't have 600 pixel thumbnails created so they won't show up)?

Thanks! Works fine from here. FWIW, the check box doesn't disappear after setting the pref... FF/2.0 on XP

I did find out that my sig is no longer valid... I had <small>...</small> in there. Maybe redundant anyway?

It's working now. I had to go back and check the box again (and it stayed). Thanks for the great upgrade, justin See Profile.

I tried it but a lot of pages are now too wide for my browser. Switching back.

600 fits pretty well on an 800 wide browser which is much smaller than an average width. So what is your horizontal res?

Some stuff seems to be throwing the page off. Here's a screen capture from a window run at 1600 wide (resized for uploading here). Even with that the page needs scrolling left and right.

Edit: further down that thread are some images side by side. That may be the issue I guess.

I was thinking that since they were posted before the change, that might be causing problems since they were already side by side, and the new posts might not place them that way.

Just did a test post, and since they are side by side, I have to scroll to see the second one. Make it so they only go one across and it should be good.

Where is that topic. it shouldn't lay anything out side by side with the option on.

I see them one underneath each other..
edit: Ok I know why I see them correctly. That was always the intention but some code is not enabled for the unwashed yet. It'll show correctly shortly.
