Picked up my Wii yesterday. I only got Zelda, 1 extra remote and nun chuck. Got home and spent 3 hours trying to get it to connect to my wireless. I was able to kind of connect after I installed an old linksys wireless router but I still kept getting disconnected. I was able to download the updates but when trying to connect to the wii store I kept getting disconnected. Something is very wrong there.
After I gave up on the wireless and played Zelda for about 3 hours. I like the controllers and it seemed natural on Zelda. |

Ok here is the list that I see available right now
NES Donkey Kong Mario Brothers Pin Ball Soccer Solomon's Key The Legend of Zelda Wario's Woods
SNES F-Zero SimCity
N64 Super Mario 64
Sega Genesis Altered Beast Sonice the Hedgehog
That's all the games available right now. Of course more will appear later. I'm hoping for Super Street Fighter II Turbo for the SNES . And of course the good ol' Final Fantasy games (2 & 3 especially). -- HABYA HABYA HABYA TEAR DOWN THE HEM STALKS EAT UP THE OLD MAN AND WOMAN AND CARRY OFF THE LITTLE GIRL MAY YOU DIE ALONE |

| reply to justin I went to my local Wal-Mart around 7:30PM on November 18th....I was #12 out of 20.
Anyway, I was very impressed with the console: at first I had some problems setting up the wireless, but then I remembered that my MAC filter was on. After I entered the MAC Address into the router, it was fine.
The 2 initial updates took about 3.5-4 hours for me to download...of course, those of you that know me well, know that I am a 56Ker (sorry, dial-up = nonexistent out here).
Sending Messages to and from the Wii is pretty cool, though, it's really slow (took a message 3.5 minutes to get to my friend, and it took 9 minutes 12 seconds for a message he sent to get to me). Of course, with VZW it used to take that long to send pictures to my e-mail account, but now, it's instantaneous; I'm sure Nintendo will get things resolved so it functions a lot more smoothly.
Sadly, however, when I try to link up my Nintendo NSider account with my Wii, the whole system kind of locks up...it's not the system's fault...it's just my 00ber slow internet connection. Hopefully I can link it up at a friends house later on.
Wii sports doesn't have the best graphics (the people, at least), but it's pretty doggone fun. The lag? Nonexistent!
Overall, I highly recommend this system...once Nintendo gets all the bugs out of their servers and such, and have a decent amount of experience with them, I think they'll have a very nice internet community. |

2 edits | reply to proefain I spent another hour trying to connect to the store with no luck, I keep getting errors. I hope I don't end up having to send my unit back.
Also I've had no luck finding Component cables and according to this may not find them for a few weeks.

I spent 2 more hours of playing Zelda, I'm really getting the feel for the controller and still find it intuitive. After 5 hours I finally saw the big map and where I've been. It looks like it will take a long time to finish this game. |

| I have had no problems connecting to the Store Channel.
I rented Super Monkey Ball:Banana Blitz and Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam yesterday. The former is fun, especially when playing the party games. I do not enjoy Downhill Jam as much as I would have hoped. Perhaps it will be more fun in MP mode. -- We were perfect when we started I've been wondering where we've gone |

| reply to royhandy evidentally there's a number of Wii owners who cannot connect to the Wii Shop Channel....some get error codes, but the others get nothing: the Wii just shops communicating with the wireless router (and thus the internet).
Sadly,I'm effected by this...no fixes yet. |

tommy3rd I Am Nuckin Futs Premium join:2000-03-10 Clifton, NJ | if you go to the nintendo site, there's a support page where you enter the error code number and they give you the explanation of the problem and the possible fix. |

The one's that have more of a problem do not get error codes at all; the Wii just stops communicating with the wireless router. |

the site mentioned changing channels on the router to channel 11 or 1. have you tried that? |

join:2006-07-23 | trust me, that won't fix the issue. My DS and other WiFi devices in the house operate just fine.
But just in case, I did it anyway, and it did not have any effect whatsoever. |

| reply to justin I've tried just about everything I can think of to get mine to connect again (turn all wireless security off on router, register the wii's mac address into the router, turning mac filtering off altogether, assign a static IP, subnet, and gateway, changed the wireless channels from 1-11 and everything inbetween). It connected no problem before the first system update. After that it hasn't connected once |

| so, what happens when you try to connect? Does it freeze when you select "link" or "do not link"? or, does it give you an error code?
Some of the Wii's are a little whacked out...if you get certain error codes, or it locks up at certain times, then you should be able to call Nintendo, and they'll ship you a new unit free of charge. (they overnight it to you, then you send yours back to them). |
