From the help file v.3.98:
Note: You can install/update a new version over any older version. Uninstall is not required. After install, just refresh your associations under Properties->Extensions, if not already done during installation process.

Thanks Nick! It's been almost a year since the last update.

I installed it over the top and grabbed the new plugins too.

What do you do with previous plug-ins. Should I install the new-plug-ins over the old?

Thanks! Just Grabbed it.
This is one of my FAVORITE programs!

Careful:
Don't just click through the install, unless of course you want Google Toolbar and Google Desktop....

while irfanview is a good program, the thing that annoys me is that gawd-awful red blotch animal icon. and when i try to go into windows file extensions to change the icon, i can't.

the only way to change the icon is to do it within irfanview with the lame icons they give you...

Well I updated IrfanView. I stopped using IrfanView a while back and made the Faststone ImageViewer my default viewer. There's 2 things that I really don't like about IrfanView.

I don't like the fact that every time I click on the thumbnails icon in IrfanView I have to keep reminding IrfanView where my pictures are stored. Also unless I'm doing something wrong Irfanview doesn't seen to stored the thumbnails in cache. Because when I find my pictures folders and opened them it has to load them all the time. It takes about 15/30 seconds depending on folder size before I can see all my thumbnails. I like the way Fastone handles thumbnails better. Thumbnails load instantly. Only thumbnails it loads are for new pictures. Also I love the favorite folders in Faststone. All your pictures folders are a click away.

Maybe I'm missing something in the options that can fixed these 2 annoyances for me. If I am, please let me know.

I just let Windows handle storage and thumbnails.
When I need to edit images, Irfanview opens them fast.

Works for me!

I use Faststone or IrfanView for viewing only and maybe resizing. For editing I used The Gimp or PSP X.

Well... I *DO* have Photoshop(Elements) if I need to get Semi-serious about editing... but like you, resizing and pixelating personal info on images - Irfanview is it!
