Wimax technology

I don't know if this belongs on this site or not, but we are all looking for alternatives. Does anyone know the pluses and minuses of the new WiMax wireless technology? From what I read, it can give a wireless tower a lot of range. Sounds like Sprint is going to do some investing in this area. Could that be a option for all of us out in the sticks? How many users would it take to get a communication company interested?
