 | Excellent move. I think ZoneAlarm guys have been tired about poor detection rates of CA eTrust Vet antivirus engine.
So they're looking for something new and finally come up with one of the best antivirus engine in the world such as Kaspersky. One of the best firewall + one of the best antivirus engine !!! |

gugarciPremium join:2004-02-25 Bergen Co 1 edit | reply to Graystoke I would buy it. Right now I'm using ZAP and NOD32. But been thinking of trying KIS when they both expire. Although upgrading ZAP can be a nightmate to too many users. |

Maybe all my years of trying to sell this company on Kaspersky has finally paid off. No that couldn't be. They ( Zone Labs ) never seem to listen to my suggestions in the past.
This is probably one of the smartest moves this company has ever made in my opinion. If the ZoneAlarm Suite offers the same exact ease of use and protection as the stand alone Kaspersky. This will definitely be a win win situation. Not to mention this now gives Kaspersky even more exposure to the general public.
The great thing for me is. This could potentially save me money each year. Actually my Kaspersky license may have expired by now. Not sure considering that neither them or Zone Labs have had a test build that will work on Vista. Even though Vista is supposedly being released in January 2007.
This was good find news wise. Interesting how I hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere else. Kaspersky also normally sends out an email when they make big deals like this. That hasn't hit my inbox yet either. -- Test PC Security Cable Diagnostics BLOG ZoneAlarm Help Vista 5744 RC2 Beta Insightbb Plus 15000/1500 |

Way before the AOL partnership. I to find it interesting that two major competitors have partnered. All be it in a limited way. | reply to Graystoke I have an unopened box of Zone Alarm SS. Will it automatically upgrade to version 7, or will I have to pay again for the new version? |

IGGYNo Guru Just Here To HelpPremium,MVM join:2001-03-30 Chatham, IL | reply to Graystoke Honestly I'm not 100% sure how the company handles that nowadays. If your license key hasn't been activated in any way. I would assume it should still be good for the period of time that the license covers. This may not be the case. But as far as I'm aware you should be able to use what you have in the unopened box. As long as you have a valid license key for the product. You will receive any update that comes out during that period. -- Test PC Security Cable Diagnostics BLOG ZoneAlarm Help Vista 5744 RC2 Beta Insightbb Plus 15000/1500 |

 | reply to Graystoke I just looked at the box, and I do not see a version number on it, which leads me to believe they will likely upgrade me for free once I install it. |

| reply to Graystoke I had my HD crash and had to reformat and in so doing, went for the ZA Suite which I just bought. I have always been a believer in the product and obviously still am. I couldn't be more pleased to hear this info. It was a difficult choice when deciding what to add to my clean system, Kasparsky or ZA. Yes, I wavered for a short time but not long. I am hoping that my newly installed copy of ZA Suite will entitle me to their upgrade, but even if it doesn't, I would assuredly buy it. Good for them and good for those of us who are users and believers. -- JKK

IGGYNo Guru Just Here To HelpPremium,MVM join:2001-03-30 Chatham, IL | reply to clocks11 Version number won't matter. What does matter is having a valid license key. As long as you have a valid key. Any update that is released during the time you have a valid license you will receive that upgrade for free. Normal licenses are a year long. You can purchase a type of family pack. With multiple licenses. You can also purchase a license for longer than a year. As far as I'm aware the box set comes with a year license. So as long as that is still valid. You should have no issues getting the latest build. Which you can always download from their website for free. -- Test PC Security Cable Diagnostics BLOG ZoneAlarm Help Vista 5744 RC2 Beta Insightbb Plus 15000/1500 |

 | reply to Graystoke I have not yet activated my code, so I will wait for this new version and then try it out.
I wonder if it will use the latest version of Kapersky (a new one is coming out next week), or an older version. |

 | Don - I was actually referring to ZA, not Kaspersky. I have tried in vain to install my store bought Kaspersky software and just getting HTTP errors where I can not update nor activate the software. |

1 edit | reply to Graystoke Will be curious as to the level of protection offered. No one has mentioned how much of KAV they get yet.
In the forums at Kaspersky, one member mentioned the link below, funny thing ZoneAlarm aren't saying anything yet, just that it's going into beta, and should be a short beta run. Considering KIS is coming out of beta, I can't seeing it take long either.

Hi Don. I just went to the KAV Product Update site, and it still shows version 6.0.0.303. How did you get the new version? |
