Some of you may remember back at the beginning of the year I posted this thread telling you about my good fortune to have been chosen, among hundreds of other photographers, to have a few of my images published in the book Snow: The South Texas Christmas Miracle 2004. Since that time, a second book, More Snow: The South Texas Christmas Miracle 2004 and a children's book, More Snow For Kids: The True Story Of The South Texas Christmas Miracle, have been published.

The publisher of the two snow books, Kathryn Childers and her son Clark L. Childers, the author of the kids snow book, were in the area for a book signing. Our local newspaper printed an article today telling about the book and the book signing. I was even mentioned in the article by name as a local "photo bug" who contributed to the two snow books.

Having only communicated with Mrs. Childers through email and the telephone, I attended the book signing to meet her and her son in person. I spent several hours at the event, took a few photographs (shown above), and even got to autograph a few of my photos for people purchasing the book. Talk about "15 minutes of fame", this was mine! I had a blast and it was fun to be a part of something like this. For those who might be wondering, no, I didn't make a dime off of the book sales. After expenses, a large majority of the profits were donated to Texas charitable organizations including The H-E-B Read, Write, Connect Literacy Program. The experience was priceless and it's something I will never forget.

I was just thinking about this the other day as HEB is talking about putting stores in back up here. Is there any way for me to get a copy of the original book? Do you have spares I can purchase or can you get me one and mail it? I'll PayPal you the cost of the book and shipping.

Fantastic event and yes, I recall your being a part of the the first book. What a thrill that had to have been to say nothing of this second experience. Would you sign an autograph for me too? I, too, would love to see the image that made it into the book if it's possible for you to post it.

Yes, it is and judging by the number of people that bought the books, a lot of people are getting snow books as gifts for the holidays.

Yes, I thought it was really awesome and something I had never experienced and probably never will experience again. The books, as far as I know, are only available at the H-E-B "super" stores or on the Texas Snow Book website which, by the way, only displays correctly using Internet Explorer. I don't think the person who put up the site has much experience doing websites.

Thank you and thanks for asking! I have shared them on my website. There were a total of 10 of my images used in the two snow books.

See my response to kidpics See Profile. I bought over $250 worth of books yesterday for presents. Actually, I could probably sell several cases of the books by myself, but I didn't buy any extras. I still can't get over the fact that not only did the first book (released in January) sell like wildfire, but the second snow book and the children's snow book, from what Mrs. Childers told me, are selling tremendously well. It seems people in Texas, especially people along coastal Texas, where the snow fell, can't get enough of the books and this is an event that happened two years ago!

Thank you, jaykaykay See Profile! I was so nervous yesterday meeting Mrs. Childers. Then, when she was telling people who were buying the books that I was one of the photographers who contributed and getting me to autograph some of the books, I was a nervous wreck! My hand was shaking when I was signing my name. Actually, as I mentioned above, there were 10 images that made it into the books. Nine in the first book and one in the second book. A few of them were printed on full pages, which I was very please about.

I appreciate it. I was just fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. I just wish I had taken more photographs! I could have printed my own book!
