Re: At&t Yahoo Online Protection.... is it good?

AVG is pretty good. I have had it on 3 computers for several years and it has caught hundreds of nasty things. Although Norton has sometimes done better on independent tests, AVG has always been superior when it comes to keeping my own PC safe.

The pros of AVG are ease of use, stability, and a fairly decent detection rate, which seems to be getting better over the last few months. It also won't hog your system, much unlike Norton.

The cons for the free version are lack of tech support via email, lack of setting up more then one scheduled scan or update per day as well as lack of detection for adware.

Overall, I still consider a great free program. Check out »free.grisoft.com/doc/1 if you are interested in trying it.

Antivir which can be found on »www.free-av.com/ is probably another good option for a free AV program. Although I have only used it for a very short while, it seems to work well and is easy to use. It also tends to be known for its very good detection rate.

The only con I have found is a company advertisement during the first update of the day, which really isn’t a problem at all.

i strongly dislike CA's antivirus, it's detection is mediocre at best, try avg free, if you want something free, that or i am strongly enjoying kaspersky internet security, also it appears zonealarm security suite(which was using CA's antivirus, is now getting changed over to kaspersky(it's in beta testing right now))
