Hughes customer service and other options

After spending three weeks talking to India trying to get Hughes to repair my dish problem I gave up. Service could not be worse and support people read from talking points and all but a few cannot understand what you are telling them. Hughes offers a 2 day guarantee on field service, but in three weeks they could not even get a service person to call me. To my surprise I found Verzion air card works faster and better the the dish and I picked it up and was using in in one hour. It is also cheaper, win-win. I like direct TV and have 4 systems, service is great, but Hughes Internet could not be much worse.

HughesNet (satellite ISP) and DirecTV have nothing to do with each other. That marriage broke up long ago. Your experience is not news, but rather the norm when it comes to Hughes' "customer service". Glad you found something that works for you.

Can you use an air card with a normal desktop pc? I'm having a hard time deciding if I should shell out for something else (if I can find something that works decent) or just bend over and take it in the shorts.

I asked the same question online, here is what I was told.

Here is an adapter to use a PC Card on a PC. I'd recommend USB so you can situate where the antenna is without spending $200+ for an external antenna kit. »www.quatech.com/public/googpcdri···dsSearch
Of course, there are many others. That's just the first result I came by.

Thanks. I'll check out the link. I know I'll probably need a booster of some sort as I'm a few miles outside of sprint's evdo coverage area. Again my thanks. I'll do some research and see what I find out. Even if it's not good enough to serve out pages from my linux box at least I may get a strong enough signal to make on call a little easier.
