[TV] Is Verizon getting the NBA TV and/or NBA League Pass?

We're building a new home in a new community in Wylie, TX
and are scheduled to get the keys on December 15th. The only thing stopping me from signing up for Verizon FIOS TV at my new house is that they don't offer the NBA TV channel or the NBA League Pass. This is so frustrating. DirecTV offers it along with Time Warner Cable which are my other two options. I am signing up the 15/2 internet service, which I am hoping will be upgraded in the area to 20/5.

Has anyone here heard any rumors about Verizon adding NBA TV and/or NBA League Pass?

I did search the forums, but all of the threads were old...so it seemed like they wanted a new one started. So here it is

Is there some kind of petition we can start? Does anyone have the email address or phone number to some folks at Verizon that we can bug about this?

There is still a big sport gap on FIOS TV packaging.

Packages still missing
NBA League Pass
MLS League Pass
NHL League Pass
MLB League Pass

As of now, FIOS TV only has ESPN Gameplan.

I am sure they are working on the missing sports packages. I am sure the rights owners of these packages are playing hardball and charging Verizon an arm and a leg for these.

Stay tuned.

Other sports channels missing from FIOS TV
NBA TV
CSTV(College Sports TV)

Specifically talking about the NBA League Pass and NBA TV channel...I don't see what the hold-up is. Virtually every other Satellite and Cable provider offer these options. I just wish there was some official information or indication that they are even attempting to acquire these sports subs/channels.

Verizon has to work out an agreement with InDemand for the sports packages. »www.indemand.com/about/who.jsp

NBA TV they should be able to get from the NBA though and it would at least give them some NBA games.

One big drawback with Verizon FIOS TV is the issue with InDemand. InDemand is a company that offers the two InHD channels along with PPV On Demand titles and many of the Sports subscriptions. InDemand is partly owned by several of the top cable companies such as Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Comcast Cable among others. Because of this they are pulling some unfair pricing tactics that are keeping DirecTV and Dish Network from offering the two InHD channels but these tactics are hurting Verizon more as its not just the two InHD channels but the sports subscriptions as well.

DirecTV and Dish Network have deals in place for the sports packages while Verizon is a new entrant without a deal so they are getting the hard end of the stick. I expect this to be handled quicker than most think but until that time the following channels and packages aren't on Verizon FIOS TV.

The two InHD channels of course.

Sports Packages include the following below.

MLB Extra Innings.
NBA League Pass.
NHL Center Ice.
Nascar InCar.
MLS Direct Kick.

Until this InDemand issue gets cleared up these sports packages listed above and the two InHD channels will "not" be offered on Verizon FIOS TV.

That article now explains everything. If I was Verizon, if In-Demand refuses to negotiate carriage in good terms, just sue them similar to how Verizon sued Rainbow Holdings. A lawsuit always seem to work in these cases.
