The market would be so much more competitive if Sprint and Verizon went UMTS/WCDMA instead of investing in EVDO. The future clearly lies in 3GSM-UMTS-WCDMA for the global wireless standard. If Cingular subs had the ability to swap out their SIM cards for a Verizon/Sprint SIM and vice versa, imagine the possibilities. |

| Here is my outlook on wireless, no matter who provides it, it is crap. Here is another, Verizon and Sprint, though more successful by early deployment do not cut it for me. Worldwide standards, though more acceptable are still too restrictive, slow and expensive. Neither does Clearwire's WiMax. 802.11ABG APs are still the best option for most of us, mortal and poor souls. |

Why would VZ, Sprint or anyone else spend billions to gut and rebuild everything just so a small portion (I really would like to see some numbers) of phone users need to phone home while in some overseas country? |
