The market would be so much more competitive if Sprint and Verizon went UMTS/WCDMA instead of investing in EVDO. The future clearly lies in 3GSM-UMTS-WCDMA for the global wireless standard.
Why would VZ, Sprint or anyone else spend billions to gut and rebuild everything just so a small portion (I really would like to see some numbers) of phone users need to phone home while in some overseas country?
