[Connectivity] Rockville, Maryland OFF/ON >> Interesting Conver

Connection went down Sunday at 11am for most of the day, and was back on when I returned in the evening.

Connection was down Monday (last) night all evening, and returned this morning.

Interesting point... Tech on the phone Sunday afternoon said "looks like 20 of your neighbors are down too, so they are doing some maintenance in the area." (guessing?) I didn't know they had a tool to see when entire areas were down. I have always posted here that it would be a good idea to spot and resolve outages quickly, unfortunately it seems like you still must call to report trouble.

Monday the lights on the Modem were flashing together with no connection, "the tech on the phone said those RCA modems will do that, and reported that they could see the modem trying to connect, everything looked OK, but it would not connect." I told them what the other said about the Sunday outage, and then this tech looked and said something like "Ohh OK, I see only 85% of your neighbors are online, which is lower than normal, so there may be some issue" and scheduled a visit for Tuesday afternoon.

I was surprised the second tech could see my modem and comment that is was "trying to connect", even though three lights were flashing together, could they really see it? I would expect the lights would have to be solid (RCA modem) before they could see it.

The techs can see how many modems are connected to your blade server and I guess they can see a log of everytime your modem attempts to sync.

How are your modem signals?

AHHH.. that must be what they saw. Thanks for the reply.

Don't have my signal levels here, but they looked good Sunday evening and this morning.

I know the connection has been stable when connected. (been gaming online night and day lately w/50ms pings, and download speeds have also been fine)

See Montgomery county link too. Problem with the tech seeing all the lights on, does not have any bearing to if you are getting web pages to load.... It was taking one plus minute for google to load (when it would..) and the tech assured me everyone else was up and running.
